My name is Maria Perez (she/her) and I am an Afro-Latina creative born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I am currently studying in the Texas Creative program in the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Texas at Austin.
I picked up graphic design on a whim during my first year of college and never looked back. A self-taught designer, I have designed for newspapers, magazines, student organizations, and startups. I actively seek out any opportunity to grow my skillset and help my community.
In addition to design, my passions lie in community building, organizing, and mutual aid. My background as a first-generation college student as well as my ethnic and cultural backgrounds give me the motivation to use my creativity to provide a better life for myself, my family, and my community.
My creative story is the definition of "from the ground up" and I am continuously building on my creativity every day.
